Toonami November News Recap

The Clydes are back! Oh, and we got some new stuff coming soon.

COMING JANUARY // NARUTO SHIPPUDEN

Naruto Shippuden will be airing on Toonami this January on the same night as Space Dandy. As for Naruto, November 30 will be its final night. The staff said they can't afford to keep both Naruto and Shippuden.

DECEMBER 7 // AKIRA

NEO-TOKYO IS ABOUT TO E.X.P.L.O.D.E.! And so is Toonami when it airs AKIRA, the groundbreaking film based on Katsuhiro Otomo's manga. Just recently this month, FUNimation released the 25th Anniversary DVD/BD Edition, which contains both the 1988 Streamline dub and the 2001 Pioneer dub. It's confirmed that they'll show the latter dub in HD.

DECEMBER 14 // SUMMER WARS

This original film directed by Mamoru Hosoda is actually one of my favorite anime films. I've been hinking that this movie could work. If you liked the second Digimon Adventure movie which was the second part of the American movie), you'll like Summer Wars. They basically share the same premise: Supervirus takes over the internet, people fight it.

DECEMBER 21// FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST: THE CONQUEROR OF SHAMBALLA

On the weekend before Christmas, they'll be showing the movie which concludes the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime. This one I'm not too crazy about since it's not the movie related to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but they did say that they wanted Shamballa to air first, but they did say that the other one isn't out of the question.

DECEMBER 28 // TRIGUN: BADLANDS RUMBLE

Yep, the Trigun movie is finally airing on [adult swim]. If you remember correctly, Trigun ran on [adult swim] a long while ago, and had an episode air on the April Fools 2012 Toonami. Just a little heads-up: The English voice cast, sans Vash, is different from the series.. But it's mostly just a movie-length episode of the TV series

COMING MARCH // BLUE EXORCIST

A-1 Pictures' 25-episode adaptation of Kazue Kato's manga is coming to Toonami by Aniplex USA. No word on whether it'll be premiering after Soul Eater, Sword Art Online or FLCL's second run. Good choice for Toonami. Personally, I would've preferred Gurren Lagann, but this is good. If I recall correctly, this was the highest requested Aniplex USA show for Toonami. Well, this'll be their statement of apology for Sword Art Online.

Excited? I know I am.
